The Costa Blanca South & The Costa Calida

The Costa Blanca South & The Costa Calida
21 Jan 2020

Driving South from Alicante towards Torrevieja you can feel the excitement in the air of being somewhere that is ‘Holiday Time’ or going home to a property you love to be living in.

Since the 1960’s millions of people from all areas in Europe have descended on the Costa Blanca South (the White Coast) also known also as the "California of Europe".  Although tourism is a big industry it is also a place where people have made their permanent home.  The population of around 90 thousand residents are made up of mainly English, German and Scandinavians that all own property here. The wonderful micro climate is revered by ‘The World Health Organisation’ as being one of the healthiest places on earth to live.  Everyone loves the sun, the laid back way of life and clean fresh air generated by the salt lakes ‘salinas’.  General wellbeing is reflected not just by retirees or older people but also by young families giving their children a chance to grow up in a clean and healthy environment.  The freshest fish, fruit and vegetables  -  ‘The Mediterranean Diet’  -  all amount to a healthier way of life.

All the beaches in the Costa Blanca South are ‘Award Winning Blue Flag’.  The lowest daytime temperature is 16c during the winter months and we boast 320 days of sunshine!!!!!  Lots of reasonably priced restaurants and tapas bars cater for all nationalities.  What more could you ask for?  Good food and gorgeous weather.  There are fabulous golf courses that are busy from September to March but if you live here all year round you don’t need to worry about having to squeeze in a game during those months.

There are lots of very popular towns that are residential, and, if you are buying an investment property in the Costa Blanca South it will be very sought after for rental.

Santa Pola is only 11km, 14 minutes by car via N-332. One straight road out of the airport and you are on your way right the way through to Cartagena.

Torrevieja was originally a fishing village that also mined salts.  Driving along you will pass huge mountains of salt on the roadsides. It is one of the most popular destinations in the Costa Blanca South to either live here on a permanent basis or own a holiday home.  All the areas are family orientated there is go-karting, a modern Sports Centre with an Olympic sized swimming pool should you fancy a change from swimming in the sea.  Activities include fishing, walking, mountain biking, general cycling and plenty of gyms to join, and of course if you live here and love football you have to support Torrevieja Football Club. If you prefer Primera Liga football (Spain's top football division) then Valencia CF, Villareal & Levante are all in the province of Valencia - approx. 2 hours drive.

La Zenia has become very sought after over the past couple of years due to the opening of a very tastefully built shopping centre. It’s a real hive of activity especially weekends where families gather to spend the day to eat and shop. For visitors from the UK plenty of the usual High Street shops are there for you to browse and buy in. There is a bowling alley cenre and lots of activities for children of all ages. The surrounding properties to this area are very sought after for rental both during the summer and winter months. Nothing high rise plenty of villas and quaint little houses. Best of all this all is all within walking distance of the beach.

Villamartin is a lovely area.  Very very popular with Northern Europeans. Beautiful golf courses. A little further from walking distance to the coast but only still between 10 - 15 minutes by car. This is very residential more away from the ‘Tourist Areas’, we’ve found people are very drawn to this area which is a short drive from La Zenia as they then have the best of both worlds.

If being literally on the beach is your favourite place to be then we have beautiful New Builds in Playa Flamenca or Punta Prima with uninterrupted views looking out to sea.   We are seeing a new ‘trend’ of younger investors who are capitalising on the fantastic new developments demonstrating that the quality of Spanish new builds is of much higher than of previous years, the finished product and the quality of these properties is just amazing.  If you are thinking New Build take a look at our ‘Viewing Trips’ on 79Estates website for 79€ pp.

I’ve only mentioned a few of the areas that we have properties available for you to view.  We have an excellent working relationship with other agents and constructions companies in the Costa Blanca South which saves you then having to register with different agents.  We can obtain keys for you to view any property you wish to see. We have recently opened our Costa Blanca South office in Villamartin to better serve our clients - click here for more details.

We hope you do decide to join us in the Costa Blanca albeit the North or the South. 79Estates have properties for sale in both regions. We look forward to meeting you and helping you to enjoy finding your new home.
